Finck & Associates Provides Community-Based Services
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (1/25/08) —Providing high-quality, community-based services is the hallmark of
Finck & Associates, Inc. That legacy continues today as the company offers a full range of outpatient services and operates
several individualized supported living (ISL) homes in Mexico and Fulton.
"We will always be committed to providing counseling for families and individuals and serving our employee
assistance contracts, but the supported living homes are another way we can provide compassionate, community-based services,"
explains Jonathan Finck, owner of the business. "We opened our first ISL in 2005 as way to help Missourians with developmental
disabilities thrive in a community environment.
"I realize that this sounds idealistic, but we truly love making a difference in people’s lives, one
at a time," he says. "Operating the treatment homes is a powerful, rewarding way to make a difference—not just for me,
but for each of our employees."
Ongoing expansion keeps the company keeps the company looking for new team members. "Our houses are staffed
24/7 with employees who help our consumers who live in the houses be successful," says Karla Jones, program director at the
company. "That involves helping with day-to-day tasks such as cooking, housekeeping, attending social events or going to medical
appointments. The activities are based on what the individual consumer needs."
The positions attract employees who are compassionate and who are looking for more than a straightforward
job. "Our employees get close to the folks they’re working with in our houses and quickly figure out how rewarding that
is," says Sara Lynn, program manager for the Mexico houses.
Finck & Associates now has 70 employees. Members of the key management team include Karla Jones of Middletown,
program director; LeeAnn Paladin of Mexico, registered nurse; Sara Lynn of Thompson, program manager; Alice Kenley Wineteer
of Fulton, program manager; Jean Hull, licensed therapist; Sandy Garrett of Paris, accounting manager; Sue Comer of Mexico,
business management assistant; and Nancy Peshut of Mexico, office manager.
"We’re fortunate to have a talented, can-do team devoted to high-quality care," explains Finck. "All
of us take the responsibility for caring for these individuals to heart. In several cases, we’re the only family the
consumers have."
A key to the success of the treatment homes has been how helpful area businesses and churches have been. "We’re
grateful for the services Audrain Handicap Services provides and all the support and encouragement we’ve gotten from
the business community," explains Jones. "That kindness helps make a big difference."
On the counseling side, a full range of outpatient therapy services for families, marriages and individuals
are offered. Areas of specialty include depression, parenting issues, couples counseling, anxiety and farm-related issues.
Services can be accessed by calling the office, by referrals or through an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) contracts the
business serves. An anger management group, in coordination with the Audrain County Prosecutor’s office, is offered
on a regular basis. Other services available through house calls across the state include parent aides and mentoring for children
and adolescents.
The company continues to provide house calls as well as office visits. "Our office in the Bank of America
building in Mexico is a convenient, confidential location," says Finck. "It is used primarily for evening and weekend appointments."
Providing community-based mental health services since 1994, the business serves Mexico and surrounding areas,
including Columbia, Jefferson City, Fulton and Montgomery City. Finck runs the business and continues as Farm Journal’s
family counselor, writing a regular column in the magazine. He recently completed four years as the treasurer of the Association
of Social Work Boards and presently serves on the audit committee of the international organization. He is also a member of
